News Release
Aakel Technologies Inc. (HQ: Fukuoka City, Japan; CEO: Ryoji Miyawaki), a company dedicated to realizing a decarbonized society through digital innovation, has announced the completion of its survey on the demand for EV smart charging services in Thailand. The survey was conducted with the support of the " SDGs Business Supporting Survey (JICA Biz)" by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA; HQ: Tokyo, Japan; President: Akihiko Tanaka)

Overview of the Survey
Aakel’s EV smart charging system, "AAKEL eFleet," addresses various challenges related to EV charging, promoting the transition from gasoline-powered vehicles to electric vehicles and contributing to the realization of a decarbonized society. Recognizing the rapid growth of EV adoption in Thailand, we initiated this survey to explore opportunities for further advancing decarbonization through our business expansion in the region.
State of EVs in Thailand
The Thai government is actively promoting the adoption of EVs through subsidies for EV purchases and measures to support manufacturing and imports. According to the EV Association of Thailand (EVAT), the goal is to transition all vehicles introduced domestically to EVs by 2035.
In this survey, interviews were conducted with public transit bus companies and postal service companies, both of which have started taking concrete steps toward fully transitioning their fleets to EVs. As an initial step, around 300 EVs have already been introduced as part of plans to eventually deploy over 3,000 EVs. Procurement plans for additional vehicles have also been finalized.
Currently, the majority of EVs in use in Thailand are manufactured by Chinese companies (see chart below). Notably, public transit bus companies that previously relied on Japanese-made buses foresee discontinuing their use as they transition to EVs.

The full survey results can be viewed in the report published on the JICA website via this link (Japanese only).
