Huawei HIMA(Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance)

Amid the intensifying global race to define the future of mobility, manufacturers across different countries have taken various approaches to this transformation in recent years. Notably, Chinese manufacturers have tackled this shift in their own unique style, evolving in ways that differ from those of other countries’ automakers.

Among them, China’s Huawei established “HIMA” (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) in November 2023 together with Chinese automakers, and began developing and launching EV models. The number of brands has steadily increased year by year: starting with AITO in 2021*, followed by LUXEED in 2023, STELATO in 2024, and then MAEXTRO and SAIC in 2025, bringing the total to five brands.

*AITO is an EV jointly developed by Seres Group and Huawei prior to the establishment of HIMA.

HIMA is an intelligent vehicle technology alliance proposed by Huawei. Its goal is to promote the development of intelligent vehicle technology and deliver excellent EV products to users by collaborating with partner companies.

Its core technologies span systems, IoT, and hardware.

【Assisted driving: Huawei ADS assisted driving system】

  • By constantly utilizing up-to-date route information and traffic data via the cloud, the range of roads it can handle is expanded

  • Designed to flexibly respond to complex road surfaces and environmental changes through cognitive technology that integrates numerous sensors and AI system

【Intelligent cockpit: Multimedia multi-screen flow】

  • Multiple screens and multimedia systems work in coordination to deliver a new experience of travel and entertainment, enhanced by immersive sound and lighting effects

  • With the smart assistant “Xiaoyi,” driving services become even more convenient

【Intelligent power: Huawei’s 800 V silicon carbide high-voltage platform】

  • Huawei’s “Giant Whale” battery supports ultra-fast charging up to 600 kW, and optimizes energy management using AI

  • With its intelligent range-extending system, it enables quiet start and stop, supports both gasoline and electricity, offering flexible usage

【Intelligent car control: Tuling platform, full-dimensional perception of road conditions, 3D control of body posture】

  • By utilizing numerous sensors and AI installed on the vehicle body, the system can perceive road conditions three-dimensionally from all 360 degrees. This enables the vehicle to maintain optimal body balance even on uneven surfaces or curves, ensuring smooth and stable driving

  • The close integration of hardware such as sensors, suspension, and chassis with software like AI analysis and driving control delivers a comfortable and highly safe driving experience

  • It automatically adjusts the vehicle height and suspension stiffness, and optimizes steering and braking force according to the road conditions

【Network: Strong communication ability, wide coverage, fast network recovery】

  • Equipped with an in-vehicle distributed satellite communication system, enabling calls, messaging, and emergency communication even in mountainous areas, during disasters, or when mobile networks are unavailable

  • The latest HIMA models are also equipped with a system that automatically switches between satellite and terrestrial communication networks. Under normal conditions, regular communication is used, but when needed, it seamlessly switches to satellite mode to ensure constant connectivity

  • This communication can also be shared with smartphones and other devices within a 30-meter radius around the vehicle, making it suitable for group use in outdoor or remote settings

【All-dimensional security: Anti-collision in all directions】

  • It is equipped with advanced safety systems (such as AEB and ADS) that detect collision risks not only from the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle, but also from diagonal directions, and automatically avoid them

  • By using multiple high-precision sensors such as LiDAR, radar, and cameras, the system recognizes surrounding hazards and obstacles in real time, enabling vehicle control to prevent accidents before they occur

  • The vehicle structure adopts robust materials such as submarine-grade high-strength steel, designed to minimize damage in the event of a collision. As a result, the safety of occupants is ensured even in the event of an accident

Looking Ahead

As of early November 2025, HIMA has not announced any plans to enter the Japanese market. However, it has already expanded into the Middle East and Southeast Asia, and further expansion is planned in Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia.

Until now, the price range of HIMA’s EVs has been between approximately JPY 5 million and JPY 23 million, but the SHANGJE EV launched in September 2025 starts from around JPY 3.6 million, making it a more accessible option for the Japanese market.

HIMA’s EVs may be reshaping conventional perceptions of vehicle value, creating a new market where comfort and user experience take priority over brand recognition.

Key Features:

  • Autonomous driving (urban areas, parking lots, multi-level garages, unmanned travel to designated locations)

  • Large screens for rear-seat entertainment

  • Refrigerated and heated storage compartments

  • Massage functions

In response to this trend, it has been publicly announced that the EVs of Chinese joint ventures of Toyota, Honda, and Nissan will be equipped with Huawei’s HarmonyOS in the near future.
