Jacky Perrenot, one of France’s largest logistics companies, is recognized as a leading example in the deployment of EV trucks. The company’s initiatives offer valuable insights into how to address key challenges such as reducing CO2 emissions, complying with environmental regulations, and building adequate charging infrastructure in the process of electrifying freight transport.
About Jacky Perrenot: Established in 1945, the company has built a prominent position in the European transport and logistics sector. It currently employs over 10,000 people and operates more than 145 locations across Europe.
The French company began introducing EVs in 2020. Vehicles are carefully selected based on operational needs, such as driving range, charging performance, and versatility, as well as regulatory requirements.
2020: First EV truck introduced
2021: Fourth EV truck added
2025: Deployed 40 IVECO eDaily vehicles for urban deliveries and 100 MAN eTGX vehicles for medium- and long-distance transport
Dimensions: 5,200mm × 2,000mm × 2,100mm
Driving range: Approx. 330 km
Battery capacity: 111 kWh
In response to the ZFE (Low Emission Zone) regulations, Jacky Perrenot has introduced the IVECO eDaily for urban deliveries, ensuring the ability to operate in city centers without restrictions.
About IVECO: Founded in 1975 through the merger of five major European industrial vehicle manufacturers. Today, IVECO is one of the leading players in the global transport industry.
Dimensions: 16,500mm × 2,550mm × 3,100mm
Driving range: Approx. 500 km
Battery capacity: 400–480 kWh
About MAN Truck & Bus: Founded in 1915, MAN is one of Europe’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. In 2023, the company recorded sales of around €14.8 billion. It provides a wide range of transport solutions including vans, trucks, and buses. Since 2015, MAN has been part of the TRATON Group.
TRATON Group: Established in 2015, the group includes Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus, making it one of the world’s largest commercial vehicle groups. In addition to vehicle manufacturing, it also offers parts distribution and financial services.
Enforced since 2018, these zones are designated areas that restrict the circulation of high-emission vehicles to reduce air pollution.
Vehicles operating within ZFEs must display a Crit’Air sticker, certifying their eligibility to drive in the zone.
ZFE regulations are being progressively expanded. From 2025 onwards, trucks registered before September 30, 2001, and older diesel and gasoline vehicles will face restrictions. This creates a regulatory environment that effectively necessitates a transition to EV trucks.
Currently, Jacky Perrenot operates around 6,000 vehicles, of which more than 800 are green vehicles. Through daily operations, the company is continuously learning from the latest EV and charging technologies. It applies this knowledge to improve its systems, maintain high operational quality, and actively promote the adoption of green vehicles through concrete proposals to its clients.
EVs: approx. 140 units
Biogas and natural gas vehicles: approx. 600 units
Vehicles using renewable fuels (e.g., HVO): approx. 60 units
HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) is a renewable fuel that helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels and contributes to lower CO2 emissions.
Targeting a 30% share of green vehicles and a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.
In addition to EV trucks, the company is pursuing a phased decarbonization strategy by combining various alternative energy sources such as biomethane, hydrogen, and HVO.
HVO is being introduced into operations due to its potential to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel.
The company has installed EV charging equipment at more than 11 sites, including logistics hubs and customer locations.
It continues to build infrastructure to ensure operational continuity of green vehicles.

This growth is the result of a combined effect of regulatory measures and public support. The challenges faced by Jacky Perrenot are shared by many other companies in France. By learning from this case, French businesses can gain practical insights, anticipate potential barriers, and accelerate their own EV adoption strategies more effectively.

At Aakel Inc., we have begun supporting the introduction of EV trucks into the logistics operations of Green Coop Kumamoto [link].
At the Seibu Center of Green Coop Kumamoto, there were initial discussions about the need to install a new power cubicle when introducing EV trucks. This installation was estimated to cost several tens of millions of yen.
To address this, Aakel Inc. conducted a preliminary simulation focused on two key objectives: maximizing the use of existing electrical infrastructure and optimizing and minimizing the addition of new equipment. Based on this analysis, we proposed, and had approved, the following:
Applying the AAKEL eFleet EV charging management system within the capacity of the existing cubicle
Eliminating the need to install a new cubicle
At Aakel Inc., our support goes beyond just evaluating EV trucks and chargers. We also provide technical analysis of electrical infrastructure. This helps reduce overall installation costs and allows the saved budget to be reallocated toward the purchase of EV trucks.
Even for EV trucks that do not support onboard devices or API integration, our AAKEL eFleet solution enables centralized management of mixed-brand fleets by generating a custom SoC prediction model. This gives clients the freedom to select from a wider range of EV truck manufacturers.
AAKEL eFleet addresses a broad set of needs for corporate foundational charging, including use cases for buses, taxis, trucks, company-owned and sales vehicles. It also solves various operational challenges associated with EV deployment.
With extensive expertise in power systems, we provide tailored solutions to a wide range of challenges.
Leveraging our knowledge and international network, we also offer mobility-focused research and consulting services, such as:
Exploring potential business opportunities for your products and technologies in global EV markets
Creating concise, internal EV research reports
Supporting new EV-related business development in the Japanese market
EV Consulting
Aakel’s smart EV charging service “AAKEL eFleet” provides a vendor-free solution compatible with imported EVs (both passenger and commercial vehicles) and charging stations from manufacturers like ABB.
Through API integration and onboard device connectivity, it enables centralized vehicle management regardless of brand or model.
Moreover, by supporting OCPP, ECHONET Lite, and manufacturer-specific protocols, it offers integrated charger management that can operate seamlessly even in sites where different manufacturers and mixed-use chargers (standard, fast, V2X) coexist.
